Meet Kenna
Kenna Knowles
MSW intern
My name is Kenna! I am currently in the second year of my Master of Social Work program, set to graduate in May. Before pursuing a career in therapy, I graduated from Concord University and taught 6th-grade math for two years. Helping others has always been a passion of mine, and my teaching experience reinforced this passion, which ultimately guided me to pursue a career in therapy.
My focus is on supporting adolescents and emerging adults as they navigate the complexities of life’s transitions. I take a strengths-based, person-centered approach, aiming to meet each individual where they are emotionally and mentally. With a foundation of empathy and a deep commitment to understanding their unique experiences, I provide not only compassionate support but also practical guidance that equips them with tools to thrive.
I believe that therapeutic work doesn’t have to be limited to addressing difficulties—it can also be a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, one that encourages moments of joy, creativity, and personal growth. By incorporating elements of play, mindfulness, and open dialogue, I create a space where clients feel safe to explore and embrace their full potential. My goal is to foster resilience and self-awareness in a way that is not only healing but also empowering, allowing them to find hope, confidence, and even fun in their personal growth process.
When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Mountaineers, running on the Mon Trail, and hiking through West Virginia’s mountains.
